Mr. Gérard van Grinsven is one of the world’s most accomplished and recognized executives in customer service, delivering exceptional value by redefining world-class service standards. His unique combination of pioneering work and exceptional results in both luxury hotels and health care have forced competitors to emulate or be left behind. His unique experience is exemplified by the combination of his three years at the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, and more than twenty years with the Ritz Carlton Hotel corporation (including opening new hotels in China and Bali) which preceded his transition into his career in healthcare and has provided the backdrop of hospitality and exceptional service delivery in all the organizations he leads.
Mr. van Grinsven served as President and CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) from 2013 to 2015, a national network of five intensive cancer care hospitals. CTCA was ranked 4th out of more than 1,400 companies tracked in the widely acclaimed YouGov BrandIndex “Best Brand” survey in 2015, only behind brands such as Amazon and Netflix. During his tenure, CTCA was the most profitable healthcare organization in the United States, consistently delivering superior outcomes in quality, patient satisfaction and stakeholder engagement.
Mr. van Grinsven also served as a senior executive with the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, where he was President and CEO of the award-winning, 192-bed West Bloomfield Hospital. Mr. van Grinsven led the visioning, development, planning, commissioning and operations of this groundbreaking and innovative hospital which, under his leadership became a pioneer and national model for excellence in the patient experience and quality. Mr. van Grinsven has earned two Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Awards, one at the Henry Ford Health System and one at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. Mr. van Grinsven has a particular passion for creating a new hospitality model that synthesizes and operationalizes health and wellness, focused on safety, quality and compassionate care.
