The faculty role in teaching nursing in a clinical setting is examined. The focus is on how to create safe and effective clinical learning environments and learning activities for nursing students. Faculty learn strategies to promote student engagement and active learning in clinical learning environments. The roles and responsibilities of the nursing faculty, nursing staff, healthcare organization and nursing students are identified. Methods that effective in developing, assessing and evaluating clinical learning experiences for students is discussed.
