Anatomy and physiology, rights of medication administration and guidelines for safe medication administration in various healthcare and community settings is presented. Types of high risk medications and patient safety concepts is applied to safe medication administration. Standardized checklists, WHO medication guidelines and evidence-based practice is discussed as strategies to mitigate medication errors and prevent adverse events and patient safety events.
